PAC-10 IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Pac-10 has won five of the last eight NCAA titles. Washington won it all in 2005, Stanford claimed titles in 2001 and 2004, while USC captured titles in 2002 and 2003. Over the last nine years of the NCAA Tournament, the Pac-10 has compiled an impressive 147-52 (.739) record. Toss out the 12 postseason matches in which Pac-10 teams faced each other and the league’s NCAA Tournament record against non-conference foes stands at 135-40 (.771)... Overall, the Pac-10 has won 13 NCAA titles. The league’s overall record against non-conference opponents in NCAA Tournament play is 272-105 (.721)... Over the last eight years, the Pac-10 is 49-4 (.925) in the first round, and 101-13 (.886) in opening round matches since 1990.
CALIFORNIA
The Golden Bears are making their 12th NCAA Tournament appearance, and eighth consecutive appearance. Cal is 9-2 over the last three NCAA Tournaments, including a Final Four appearance in 2007... Senior OH Hana Cutura leads the Pac-10 with 5.12 kills per set and needs 30 kills to reach 2,000 for her career. Only four others in Pac-10 history have recorded 2,000 or more kills - Stanford’s Ogonna Nnamani (2,450 kills - 2001-04), UCLA’s Kristee Porter (2,255 kills, 1998-01), Arizona’s Kim Glass (2,151 kills - 2002-05), and UCLA’s Natalie Williams (2,115 - 1989-92). Cutura led the Bears with 39 kills (5.57 kps) and hit .442 in first and second round wins.
STANFORD
The Cardinal are making their 29th NCAA Tournament appearance, and are one of two teams (also Penn State) to have appeared in each NCAA Tournament... The Cardinal have reached the national championship match in each of the last three Tournaments... Stanford has won six NCAA titles (1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2004). The Cardinal captured their 13th Pac-10 title and have finished lower than second in Pac-10 play just once in 24 seasons (4th in 2000)...
