USC's Bateman Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that USC sophomore setter Kendall Bateman has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for Nov. 17-22. Bateman, who hails from Manhattan Beach, Calif., led the 15th-ranked Trojans to a pair of Pac-10 road sweeps over No. 18 OREGON and OREGON STATE. In Friday’s win over the Ducks, Bateman posted 40 assists as the Women of Troy hit .361 for the match. She also had five digs and three block assists. Against the Beavers on Saturday, Bateman tallied 40 assists for the second-straight night as USC hit .327. She also recorded five digs. For the weekend, Bateman posted 80 assists, 10 digs and paced USC to hit a combined .347. USC has won four-straight matches with Bateman recording more than 13 assists per set during the streak. Heading into the weekend, she was the nation’s top setter for assists per set, and continues to lead the Conference in assists per set with 12.30. This is the first weekly honor for Bateman, and USC’s 44th all-time Player of the Week.
