California's Cutura Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that CALIFORNIA senior outside hitter Hana Cutura has been named the Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Nov. 2-8. Cutura, who hails from Zagreb, Croatia, helped the 13th-ranked Golden Bears to a pair of Pac-10 road victories over No. 24 WASHINGTON STATE and No. 4 WASHINGTON, including handing the Huskies their first loss at home this season. For California, it marked its third-straight victory over a ranked opponent. In Friday’s 3-1 win over the Cougars, Cutura posted her seventh double-double of the season with 19 kills and 10 digs. In Saturday’s 3-2 upset over Washington, Cutura notched her third 30-kill performance of the season, posting career-highs in kills (33) and attacks (77). In the process, she became the Bears’ all-time career kills leader with 1,825, passing Tiffany Rochelle. She also moved into third place for most attacks in a career with 4,244. For the weekend, Cutura totaled 56 points, 52 kills and 18 digs. In the NCAA ranks, she’s third in kills (5.10 kps) and fourth in points (5.59 pps). This is the second weekly honor for Cutura, and California’s 26th all-time Player of the Week.
