WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- With a STANFORD sweep, forward Kelley O'Hara was named Pac-10 Player of the Year, midfielder Mariah Nogueira was named Freshman of the Year and head coach of the Cardinal, Paul Ratcliffe, was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year, as Commissioner Larry Scott announced the women's soccer All-Conference honors today.
PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE YEAR -- KELLEY O'HARA, STANFORD
O'Hara, a native of Fayetteville, Ga., becomes the fifth Stanford player all-time to be named Conference Player of the Year. O'Hara has had a record-setting season, as she shattered the 15 year school record and Conference record for goals in a season, netting 23, leading the team to an undefeated season heading into the tournament. O'Hara also set the school record for points in a season with 55. She ranks second on the Cardinal career list with 54 goals and is five away from tying the program's all-time leader. O'Hara leads the Conference in multiple categories, including game-winning goals, as she has netted eight on the year.
PAC-10 FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR -- Mariah Nogueira, STANFORD
For the third-straight season, a Cardinal freshman has won the honor of Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, with midfielder Nogueira joining the ranks of fellow teammates Christen Press (2007) and Lindsay Taylor (2008). Nogueira, who hails from Westminster, Calif., is third on the squad in goals scored (5) and also has five assists. She has started all but one game for the squad this season, being a steady presence in the midfield.
PAC-10 COACH OF THE YEAR -- PAUL RATCLIFFE, STANFORD
Leading his squad through an undefeated regular season, a Pac-10 Championship and the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, Paul Ratcliffe was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year for the second-straight year. Stanford is riding a 20-0-0 season heading into the tournament and is the consensus No. 1 team in the nation. The Cardinal have multiple offensive threats as the squad has outscored their opponents 70-12 and boast the second-best scoring offense in the country.
Ratcliffe's players rank in the top of the Pac-10 in every offensive category this season. Stanford players mark the top-three spots in assists and assists per game, and the top-two spots in shots, shots per game, points per game, points, goals and goals per game. Ratcliffe makes his seventh consecutive appearance in the postseason as the Cardinal head coach and lead's Stanford to its 12th-consecutive trip in school history.
