UCLA's Thompson Named Women's Soccer Pac-10 Player of the Week
Oct. 7, 2008 Walnut Creek, Calif. - UCLA senior goalkeeper Ashley Thompson was named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 30-Oct. 6, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Thomspon, a native of Santa Margarita, Calif., registered a pair of shutouts this weekend in UCLA's victories over Pepperdine and 19th ranked San Diego. The Bruins have now tallied 10-straight shutouts on the season. In UCLA's 1-0 win against Pepperdine, Thomspon tied her single-game high with seven saves. The goalie added two more saves to her season total of 34 in the Bruins' 3-0 victory over No. 19 San Diego. Thompson currently leads the nation in goals-against average (0.098) and save percentage (.971). UCLA has outscored its competition 26-1 this season. Fourth-ranked UCLA will travel to No. 25 Washington State and No. 34 Washington to open up Pac-10 play this weekend.
