9/9 Player of the Week

STANFORD freshman forward Lindsay Taylor has been named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 2-8, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Taylor, from Los Altos, Calif., posted seven points, off of three goals and an assist, in the Cardinal's games against Auburn and Georgia last weekend. Competing in the Georgia/Nike Invitational, the rookie scored the second goal of the game and assisted on the team's third goal in the 3-0 win against Auburn.

In the following game against the 22nd-ranked Bulldogs, Taylor netted two goals with in five minutes of each other, the second goal coming in a 1-v-1 showdown with Georgia's goal keeper to earn the 2-0 victory over the Bulldogs. After play last weekend, Taylor now leads Stanford with five goals in five games.

The No. 3 Stanford Cardinal are now 5-0-0 and tied with UCLA and Washington atop the Pac-10 standings. This weekend, the Cardinal host the 2008 Stanford Invitational welcoming fifth-ranked North Carolina and UNC Greensboro. Stanford now leads the Conference in all-time Pac-10 Players of the week with 21.
