Stanford Incoming Freshman Rachel Quon Named Gatorade National Player of the Year

Two incoming freshmen, Rachel Quon and Alina Garciamendez-Rowold, for the 2009 women's soccer season were named Gatorade State Players of the Year. Quon, who earned the Illinois crown, was also distinguished as the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Spotlight: UCLA Freshman F Sydney Leroux

UCLA freshman forward Sydney Leroux is recovering from a fall semester of double-duty with the Bruins and with the US Under-20 Women's National Team. Last December she won the Golden Ball as the U-20 Women's World Cup's Best Player and the Golden Shoe as the tournament's top scorer.

NCAA Selects Massey And Sheedy As 2009 Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholars

Amy Massey, a soccer student-athlete and communication major from the University of Southern California, and Craig Sheedy, a diving student-athlete from the University of Arizona with dual majors, have been selected as the 2009 NCAA Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholars.

Amy Massey, a senior defender on the USC women's soccer team who has excelled in the classroom and in public service, has been awarded the NCAA Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship worth nearly $50,000.
