Kayla Burt To Speak At UW American Heart Walk Kick-off Event
July 17, 2003 WHAT: Each year, the University of Washington hosts a kick-off event for the teams that will walk in the American Heart Walk, to be held this year on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Safeco Field. Kayla Burt of the Husky women's basketball team will speak about her sudden cardiac arrest on New Year's Eve 2002 and subsequent successful treatment at UW Medical Center. She was diagnosed with Long Q-T Syndrome and had a defibrillator implanted in her chest to prevent another cardiac episode. She will be a team leader with the UW Medicine Regional Heart Center for the Heart Walk. WHEN: Monday, July 28, 2003, noon to 1 pm
