STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford University announced today that women's basketball guard Jamie Carey (Thornton, CO) has transferred to the University of Texas. Carey, who was the 1999-2000 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, has missed the last two seasons because of recurring concussions.

"Jamie Carey is a terrific basketball player and a wonderful person," Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer said. "It was a pleasure to have Jamie as a part of our program. We wish her all the best in her endeavors at the University of Texas."

In her one season of action, Carey averaged 11.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 29 starts at the off-guard slot. She broke Stanford's for 3-pointers in a single season with 81, and finished 14th in the nation and second in the Pac-10 in 3-point percentage at 45.5 (81-of-178). She also ranked 12th in the nation in 3-pointers per game with 2.8.
