Oregon State's Mwanga Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that OREGON STATE sophomore forward Danny Mwanga has been named the Pac-10 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for Nov. 2-8. Mwanga, who hails from Portland, Ore., helped the Beavers earn a draw against No. 10 UCLA and a win over SAN DIEGO STATE last weekend. In a 1-1 tie against the Bruins on Friday, he had two shots on goal. In Sunday’s 2-1 victory over the Aztecs, the 2008 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year scored two goals to help the Beavers pick up their first road win of the season. In two games against SDSU this season, he has tallied four goals on 12 shots, nine of which coming on goal. Mwanga leads the Pac-10 in goals scored (12), goals per game (0.71) and is tied for first in game-winning goals (5). He is tied for second in points (25) and points per game (1.47). His mark in goals per game ranks ninth in the NCAA. This is the first-career weekly honor for Mwanga and Oregon State’s 14th all-time Player of the Week selection.
