UCLA's Michael Stephens Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- UCLA junior midfielder Michael Stephens has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 7 - 13, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Stephens scored the game-winning goal in overtime as UCLA upset sixth-ranked California, 3-2, on the road. It was the first victory in Pac-10 play for the Bruins and the first win over a ranked opponent this season. Stephens registered the game-winner on a penalty kick, his fourth in as many tries this year. The Naperville, Ill., native is tied for the team lead in goals with six, which triples his previous career-high for a season. He led all players in the match with five shots, three on goal. The junior is tied for second in the Conference in goals and goals per game (0.50) and ranks sixth in points per game with 1.08. This is the second weekly honor this season for Stephens and the 32nd all-time for UCLA.
