Washington Midfielder Raphael Cox Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- WASHINGTON midfielder Raphael Cox has been named the Pac-10 men's soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 16 - 22, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Cox was instrumental in the Huskies' 3-2 overtime victory against No. 24 New Mexico to win the Husky Fever Classic. The Tacoma, Wash., native tied the match in the 79th minute, connecting on a shot from 20-yards out. Cox capped the Huskies' comeback scoring the game-winning goal in the 98th minute of play. It was the first-career multiple-goal effort for Cox. The senior also fired off two shots in Washington's 1-0 win over Cal State Fullerton on Friday. He is currently tied for third in the Pac-10 in goals with three and is tied for sixth in points with seven. This is the first weekly honor for Cox and the 19th overall for Washington.
