WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett of USC and defensive tackle Ben Siegert and kicker Alexis Serna of Oregon State have been named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of the Week. Jarrett, a junior from New Brunswick, N.J., played a major role in USC's 44-24 win against No. 6-ranked Notre Dame. The All-America receiver pulled in seven receptions, many of the spectacular variety, for 132 yards (18.9-yard average) and three touchdowns. The three scoring catches upped his Pac-10 career record for touchdown receptions to 39. Siegert, a senior from Glendale, Ariz., and Serna, a junior from Fontana, Calif., were instrumental in Oregon State's 30-28 Civil War victory against Oregon. Siegert became the first player in Oregon State history to block two kicks in one game. He blocked an extra point attempt early in the fourth quarter of the game and then blocked Oregon's 44-yard field goal with six seconds remaining in the game to preserve the Beaver win. Serna was three-for-three on field goal attempts, with all the kicks coming from 40 yards or longer as he connected from 49, 50 and 40 yards. His final field goal from 40 yards was the game-winner coming with 1:12 remaining in the contest. In addition, Serna ran his school-record string of consecutive PATs made to 97 straight. It marked the second time this season Jarrett and Serna were named Pac-10 players of the week. Others nominated for offensive player of the week honors were tailback Ryan Torain of Arizona State and quarterback Matt Moore of Oregon State. Also nominated on defense were safety Josh Barrett of Arizona State and linebacker Dallas Sartz of USC. Brian Cushing of USC was nominated for special teams play. 2006 U.S. BANK PAC-10 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
