WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Tailback Jonathan Stewart of Oregon and cornerback Alterraun Verner and kicker Kai Forbath, both of UCLA, have been named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of the Week.

Stewart, a junior from Lacey, Wash., had a career game in Oregon's 55-34 win at Washington. Stewart rushed 32 times for a career-high 251 yards and two touchdowns. He also had three receptions for 20 yards and a 34-yard kickoff return to account for 305 all-purpose yards. Stewart's 251 yards rushing is the second-highest single-game rushing total in Oregon history and the top rushing performance in the Pac-10 this season. As a team, Oregon rushed for a school-record 465 yards and six touchdowns and piled up 661 yards total offense.

Verner, a sophomore from Carson, Calif., and Forbath, a freshman from Pacific Palisades, Calif., played key roles in UCLA'S 30-21 win against then-No. 10-ranked California. Verner had two interceptions, including one returned 76 yards for a touchdown with 1:33 remaining in the game to clinch the win. Verner also made six tackles, three solo, including two tackles for loss and broke up three passes. The UCLA defense limited high-powered California to 67 yards rushing and 299 yards total offense and forced four turnovers, including three interceptions returned for 111 yards and Verner's touchdown.

Forbath was a perfect three-for-three on field goal attempts, connecting from 32, 28 and 27 yards. The final field goal with 3:08 remaining in the game proved to be the game-winning score. Forbath, who becomes the third different Bruin to earn special teams player of the week this season, also was perfect on three PAT attempts. Others nominated for offensive player of the week honors were quarterback Mark Sanchez of USC and tailback Kahlil Bell of UCLA. Also nominated on defense were cornerback Nick Sanchez of Stanford and tackle Sedrick Ellis of USC. Kicker Matt Evensen of Oregon was nominated for special teams play.
