Foles, Casey and Anger Named Pac-10 Football Players of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Quarterback Nick Foles of Arizona, nose tackle Jurrell Casey of USC and punter Bryan Anger of California have been named Pac-10 Players of the Week in football. Foles, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, keyed Arizona’s offense in the Wildcats 43-38 shootout win against Stanford. Foles completed 40 of 51 passes (.784) for a career-high 415 yards and three touchdowns of 43, 11 and 1 yard, with no interceptions. The 40 completions is the second-highest single-game total in Arizona history. Behind Foles, the Wildcats amassed 553 yards total offense. Casey, a sophomore from Long Beach, Calif., played a leading role in USC’s 34-27 road win at No. 25-ranked Notre Dame. Casey posted a game-high 10 tackles, including one tackle for loss, and forced a fumble. The Trojan defense limited Notre Dame to 82 yards rushing and 367 yards total offense. Anger, a sophomore from Camarillo, Calif., had a big afternoon in California’s 45-26 road win at UCLA. Anger averaged 50.0 yards on seven punts, with four of the seven punts traveling 50-plus yards, with a long boot of 72 yards. California averaged 43.7 net yards on Anger’s punts. Also nominated for offensive player of the week honors were quarterbacks Danny Sullivan of Arizona State, Matt Barkley of USC and Andrew Luck of Stanford and tailback Shane Vereen of California. Also nominated on defense were defensive backs Ryan McFoy of Arizona State and Darian Hagan of California. Also nominated for special teams play was kicker Jordan Congdon of USC.
