Fox Sports Net Arizona To Replay Past ASU Football Games
July 31, 2003 PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The 2003 college football campaign is right around the corner and once again this August, Fox Sports Net Arizona plans to get its viewers ready for the season by replaying some past gridiron match-ups for the Arizona State University and University of Arizona football programs. FSN AZ is set to telecast five games from past seasons, including the last three games between the Sun Devils and Wildcats. The three-week series kicks-off on Aug. 9 with the first of two doubleheader Saturdays. This marks the third year in a row that the network has replayed previous games to lead up to its Pac-10 Conference and Big 12 Conference college football telecast season. The replays start on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 3:30 p.m. when the network televises last year's Utah at Arizona game. The Emmy-nominated telecast resulted in a 23-17 win for the Wildcats and was decided in the final seconds after the UA had built a 23-7 third quarter lead. Immediately after that replay, last season's Oregon State at Arizona State game can be seen at 6:30 p.m. The Sun Devils won that defensive-dominated outing 13-9 and were aided by a late fourth-quarter stand to help set the wheels in motion for the program's Holiday Bowl campaign. A second double-header replay Saturday is in the works for Aug. 16. First up is the Arizona State at Arizona battle from 2000 at 3:30 p.m. This is the game that saw Bruce Snyder & Dick Tomey coach their teams in this rivalry game for the final time and ASU dominated the second half to win in Tucson, 30-17. Right after that, FSN AZ replays the 2001 UA at ASU game at 6:30 p.m. In this contest, Arizona's three-headed monster of Jason Johnson, Clarence Farmer and Bobby Wade helped give the Cats a 34-21 win on the Sun Devils home turf. The five-game replay series rounds out on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 6:30 p.m. when fans can again see last season's Duel in the Desert when Terrell Suggs & Co. made sure that Sun Devil fans were happy for another year by beating the Wildcats, 34-20, in Tucson.
