BERKELEY - University of California tailback and Heisman Trophy contender Marshawn Lynch will be featured on ESPN2's "Cold Pizza" on Tuesday, Aug. 1, as the program showcases this year's group of Heisman hopefuls. The segment on Lynch is scheduled to air during the live broadcast between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. PST and be rebroadcast between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. PST.

A junior from Oakland who rushed for 1,246 yards in 2005, Lynch has garnered a bevy of preseason honors going into the 2006 season, including being named the eighth-best player in the nation by SI.com and the No. 2 running back in America by The Sporting News. Lynch has also been placed on the "watch list" for the Maxwell Award, given to the top player in college football, as well as numerous publications' first-team All-America lists.

To increase awareness of Lynch's accomplishments, Cal recently launched the website Marshawn10.com.

The Golden Bears, ranked in the top 10 in five different preseason rankings for 2006, are coming off an 8-4 season that included a win at the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl. The Bears ended the 2005 season ranked No. 25 in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls. Cal opens the 2006 season on the road at Tennessee on Sept. 2. The home opener is Sept. 9 against Minnesota.
