Arizona State's Buck and Arizona's Kolberg Named Pitcher and Player of the Week

ARIZONA STATE'S TRAVIS BUCK NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA STATE sophomore outfielder Travis Buck and ARIZONA junior right-handed pitcher Koley Kolberg, have been named Pac-10 Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for the Week for Feb. 24- March 1, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Buck, from Richland, Wash., had a career weekend going 10-for-12 (.833) with six runs scored, five doubles, one home run and 13 RBI, in a weekend sweep of Connecticut. In Saturday's 18-2 win, Buck went 4-of-5 tying a school record with four doubles. In Sunday's 18-11 drubbing of UConn, Buck was perfect, going 5-for-5 with three singles , a home run and a double, while tallying a career-high eight RBI. Kolberg, from Coppell, Texas, earned his first win of the season (1-1) scattering three hits in seven innings of work in Arizona's 2-1 win over No. 15 Baylor on Feb. 27 in Waco. In the game, he gave up only one unearned run, while striking out eight hitters. Earlier in the week versus Arizona State, he came in as relief to pitch the last two outs of the eighth inning with the bases loaded. Kolberg was perfect, striking out ASU's third and fourth hitters while not allowing a man to reach base. ASU went on to win the game 4-0. The Player of the Week honor is the second for Buck in his career, and the 73rd selection all-time for Arizona State. The Pitcher of the Week honor is the first ever for Kolberg, and the 28th selection all-time for Arizona.
