This Year In Pac-10 Baseball

The Sun Devils, who earned the outright league title for the third consecutive year, made their 10th consecutive postseason appearance, and 33rd all-time. The Beavers earned a regional berth for the fourth time in the last five years and 10th overall, while the Cougars made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1990. Arizona State's Jason Kipnis was awarded Player of the Year honors, while the Sun Devils' Mike Leake became the first pitcher in Conference history to earn Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year accolades in back-to-back seasons. ASU head coach Pat Murphy was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year. UCLA pitcher Trevor Bauer earned Freshman of the Year honors, while STANFORD's Jake Schlander was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Three Pac-10 Players Named To 2009 USA Baseball National Team Roster

USA Baseball announced Wednesday night the 22 members of its 2009 National Team (Collegiate). Three Pac-10 players made the cut with two pitchers from UCLA (Trevor Bauer and Gerrit Cole) and an outfielder from College World Series participant Arizona State (Matt Newman).

ASU's Mike Leake Named ABCA National Player Of The Year

Arizona State University right handed pitcher Mike Leake has been named the National Player of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Leake becomes the 14th Sun Devil to be named National Player of the Year and the first since Paul Lo Duca in 1993.

Texas Eliminates Arizona State From CWS, 4-3

Connor Rowe hit a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, moments after Cameron Rupp tied it with a homer of his own as Texas came from behind to beat Arizona State 4-3 in the College World Series on Friday night.
