Oregon Men, Washington Women top the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Preseason Poll

The defending men’s national champion OREGON Ducks and the defending women’s national champion WASHINGTON Huskies top the preseason poll of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Despite losing NCAA individual champion Galen Rupp to graduation, the Oregon men return seven All-Americans in their quest to win a third straight NCAA title. Other Pac-10 men’s teams ranked in the preseason poll include No. 3 STANFORD, No. 24 WASHINGTON, and No. 29 ARIZONA STATE. On the women’s side, Washington was the unanimous preseason No. 1 as the Huskies return five of their top seven runners, including four All-Americans. Other Pac-10 women’s teams gracing the preseason poll include No. 2 Oregon, No. 6 Stanford, and No. 11 Arizona State. The Oregon men and Washington women also will look to defend their titles at the Pac-10 Cross Country Championships, which will be held Friday, Oct. 30 at the Sky Links Golf Course in Long Beach, Calif.
