OJAI, Calif. -- Stanford's Alice Barnes is looking to erase last year's straight set defeat in the championship finals, and has come that much closer with a 6-2, 6-1 win over teammate Anne Yelsey this morning in the semifinals of the Pac-10 Individual Championships at The Ojai.

Having lost last year 6-3, 6-4 to California's Raquel Kops-Jones, Barnes will face USC's Nicole Leimbach, who defeated Cardinal Theresa Logar in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Stanford has had nine women's singles champions dating back to 1987, the last coming in 2002 by Gabriela Lastra, while USC has yet to net a championship crown in the same time.

The men's championship final will feature two familiar faces to the crowds in Ojai, Stanford's second-ranked Sam Warburg, who will be defending his 2004 singles title, and Washington's 10th-ranked Alex Vlaski.

In the semis, Warburg faced Oregon's Sven Swinnen, who was upset in the first round last year, and defeated the Duck in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Vlaski, a four-time semifinalist, managed to pull out a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 win over a tough competitor in Cal's ninth-ranked Conor Niland.

Stanford has had nine men's singles champions dating back to 1987, while Washington has yet to clinch a Conference singles title over the same amount of time.

Washington's Daniel Chu and Alex Slovic and Stanford's KC Corkery and Sam Warburg will take part to determine the men's doubles crown, while Arizona's Dianne Hollands and Maja Mlakar and Stanford's Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey will compete for the women's title.

The women's invitational finals will feature Washington State's Amy Toth and USC's Carine Vermeulen, while California teammates Ken Nakahara and Dean Wallace will go head-to-head in the men's invitational championship.

The final day of competition begins Sunday at 8 a.m., with the women's singles championship taking place at Libbey Park at 9:30 a.m., followed by the men's championship at 11 a.m.
