Huskies Open Up Play In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Husky women's tennis team opened up play at the San Diego State Fall Classic on Friday. Four Huskies won their opening round singles matches at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Huskies have ended their fall season at this tournament for the last few years, and while UW's top two singles players competed this weekend at the National Indoor Championships in Connecticut, the rest of the Dawgs still had a strong showing in Southern California. Seniors Joyce Ardies and Aleksandra Malovic each won their first round singles matches, and Ardies and sophomore Samantha Smith picked up a win in their first doubles match. Also earning singles wins was junior Aleksandra Krsljanin and sophomore Ashley Anderson. The field includes San Diego State, San Diego, Oklahoma, and UC Irvine.
