Stanford's Jason Dunford Named Third Team Academic All-American
June 9, 2009 TOWSON, Md. -- Jason Dunford, a senior swimmer at Stanford, has been selected to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large Third Team, CoSIDA announced today. Dunford, a native of Nairobi, Kenya, holds a 3.74 GPA in Human Biology at Stanford. He is a five-time Pac-10 champion and a 14-time All-American. He was also a 2008 Olympian for Kenya where he was a finalist in the 100 fly. The Men's At-Large program for the Academic All-America includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter of key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports informatin director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more that 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
