WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Diego Velasquez of Oregon State has been named Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Month for October 2009.

Velasquez, a senior from Bogota, Colombia, smoked the field in winning the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate and leading the Beavers to the team title in the event. Velasquez fired a 10-under par 66-70-70=206 to win the event by seven strokes. In his other event in October, Velasquez finished tied for third at seven-under in the weather-shortened Alister MacKenzie Invitational.

Also nominated for player of the month honors were Hank Frame of Washington State, winner of the Georgetown Intercollegiate, John Kostis of Arizona and Scott Pinckney of Arizona State.
