USC posted the best score in the field each of the Pac-10 Tournament's three days, finishing five strokes off the tournament record of 56-under par, achieved by Arizona State in 2000, earning them the Pac-10 title. UCLA placed second, while ARIZONA STATE finished third. USC's Jamie Lovemark finished the three-day event 19 strokes under par, carding just one bogey over 72 holes on the 7,033-yard, par-72 course. His 269 total helped the Trojans finish a collective 51-under par and 36 strokes ahead of second-place UCLA, the third-largest margin of victory in the event's history. Arizona State senior Niklas Lemke took second place for the second consecutive year, while USC's Joshua Wooding took third after posting 278 (-13). The Trojans placed five in the Top-10, including Rory Hie who took fourth place after outshooting the 2006 Pac-10 champion, Daniel Im of UCLA, 279 to Im's 280. Stanford took the NCAA Championships by storm May 30-June 2 in Williamsburg, Va. when the team won its first national title in 13 years. The Cardinal achieved its season long goal after carrying the lead for the duration of the tournament, firing a four-round, 11-under-par 1,109 (275-278-275-281). UCLA placed seventh with a four-round score of 1,130 (+10), ASU and USC finished in a three-way tie for 18th, while Arizona completed the tournament in 24th. Lovemark captured the NCAA individual crown after shooting a four-round, 9-under-par 271, becoming USC's third NCAA champion and just the eighth freshman to win the individual title.
Arizona State's Niklas Lemke and USC's Lovemark were named Pac-10 Co-Golfers of the Year, while Lovemark was named the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. Stanford head coach Conrad Ray was named the 2007 Pac-10 Coach of the Year. |
