WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Kevin Chappell of UCLA has been named Pac-10 Golfer of the Year, Sihwan Kim of Stanford has been named Freshman of the Year and USC coach Chris Zambri has been named Pac-10 Coach of the Year in voting by the Pac-10 men's golf coaches. In addition, the 2008 All-Pac-10 Men's Golf Team selected by the coaches was announced.

Chappell, a senior from Fresno, Calif., has had a sensational senior season and is currently the number-four ranked player in the nation in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings. Chappell posted a win in the PING/Arizona Intercollegiate and had runnerup finishes in three other tournaments this year, including the recently concluded Pac-10 Championships. He was UCLA's top scorer in five of nine tournaments during a season in which the Bruins won three events. He has posted a stroke average of 70.9 in 27 rounds this season, including shooting under 70 in 10 of the 27 rounds. Chappell becomes the first UCLA golfer to be voted Player of the Year since Duffy Waldorf in 1985.

Kim, a freshman from Buena Park, Calif., burst on the Pac-10 scene this year to earn first-team All-Pac-10 honors. Kim posted a win in the CordeValle Collegiate and finished in the top three in five of 10 tournaments this season. He had a stroke average of 71.4 in 31 rounds this season with nine rounds in the 60s, highlighted by a 63 in the UH-Hilo Invitational. Kim currently is ranked 10th in the nation in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings.

Zambri, in his second year as head coach, directed USC to a stellar year that saw the Trojans win three of 10 tournaments. USC just missed a fourth win by being edged out in a playoff by Arizona State in the Pac-10 Championships. In addition to the victories, the Trojans finished in the top four in nine of 10 tournaments entered this season. The USC team victories came in the USC Collegiate Invitational, the U.S. Collegiate Championship and the U.S. Intercollegiate.
