Pac-10 Focal Points

The Pac-10 began development of a strategic plan in April of 2007, modeled after the NCAA SAAC strategic plan. Since that time, the NCAA has adopted the implementation of focal points instead of strategic plans. At the November 2007 SAAC meeting, focal points were created to guide future work of the Pac-10 SAAC.

  1. Optimize communication between the Pac-10 SAAC and the NCAA SAAC, Pac-10 Council, SAAC subcommittees, and institutional athletic departments, to include:
    1.1. monitoring the Pac-10 SAAC meeting schedule to ensure that it dovetails with the meeting schedules of other pertinent Conference and NCAA groups;
    1.2. inviting senior athletics administrators to campus SAAC meetings;
    1.3. encouraging SAAC supervisors/advisors to report on SAAC activities at institutional administrative meetings; and
    1.4. encouraging athletics directors and senior women administrators to invite SAAC officers to participate in coaches meetings or administrative meetings when appropriate.
  2. Pac-10 SAAC meetings are business meetings. Institutional representatives are expected to review the materials and be prepared to participate in the discussions at the meetings. In addition, Pac-10 SAAC representatives are expected to debrief after each Pac-10 SAAC meeting with appropriate campus administrators, and at a SAAC meeting or with institutional SAAC officers.
  3. Participate in community service on a regular basis and explore Conference-wide community service projects.
  4. Apply leadership development and strategy to each Pac-10 SAAC meeting.
  5. Develop strategies to enhance Pac-10 recognition, unity and pride.
