Stanford Women's Soccer Stanford Women's Soccer 2007
Written By: Ali Riley No weights this morning! Woke up at 8:20, grabbed a bite to eat, and then headed to the training room for some pre-practice treatment. By the time 9 o'clock rolls around, the room is packed with our team, the football team, the field hockey team, and the men's soccer team. We practiced from 10 to 12, finishing up with some one v. ones, and headed back to the training room for a freezing ice bath. Luckily, "Remember the Titans" was on TV to distract us. Lunch was delicious sandwiches from a little deli around the corner. Given the afternoon off, we go our separate ways: the mall, the driving range, or back to our comfy beds. But tonight we are all dressing up and going out to dinner at Bella Luna's, one of the team's favorite Italian restaurants, to celebrate a birthday and eat some amazing gnocchi. It is hard to believe that preseason is practically over, and our first game is only days away in Boston. For me, the highlight was our annual river rafting trip. After sleeping under the stars at Camp Lotus, we spent the day winding down twenty miles of the American River, cliff jumping and surfing the rapids along the way. It has also been great to cheer on our men?s team?they have played a couple exhibition games here. But now it is time for me to do some serious laundry and pack up. Tuesday, when the team flies to Boston, I will be heading off in the opposite direction to New Zealand, and in ten days I will be in China getting ready for our first game against Brazil. It is going to be so hard to leave this team, I miss them already and I'm still sitting here in the dorm.
